3D Dynamos was created in June 1992 and we started playing matches in the 1992/1993 season. We were founded by Dave and Val Broadbent and Allison and Wayne Holroyd. Their sons played with local club Saddleworth Park Rangers, but towards the end of the 1991/1992 season it was clear that there were more players available for selection in certain age groups than there were places on the team. As there were quite a few boys based in and around Delph who were not playing regularly, Dave, Val, Wayne and Allison decided to gauge the local demand for the creation of a new club and called a meeting at Delph Club.
To the delight (and surprise) of all concerned, the response was overwhelming – not only in physical numbers but also with offers of financial help with cash and new football kits being donated. It was then all systems go in learning how to establish and run a junior football club which involved seeking guidance from the Local Authority in terms of identifying suitable Leagues to join, investigating pitch availability, attending first aid courses, raising funds, etc.
After some weeks of hard work, 3D Dynamos had three teams accepted into the Tameside and District Junior Football League in the age groups under 8, under 10 and under 12. Pitches were allocated for the first season at Delph School for the under 8’s and Wibsey at Denshaw for the under 10’s and the under 12’s. The original team managers were Alan Morris and Bernard Preston for the under 8’s, Tony Jones for the under 10’s and Tony Middleton for the under 12’s. Dave Broadbent was appointed Chairman, Val slipped effortlessly into the Secretary’s role and Allison picked up the Treasurer’s duties. 3D Dynamos was born taking its name from the villages supplying the bulk of players at the time - Delph, Dobcross and Denshaw.
Over the seasons 3D Dynamos has been fortunate enough to attract enough youth players to create teams from under 7s to under 16s. Equally importantly we've been able to attract one or more volunteers to manage the team (although we need more volunteers to come forward). Whilst we have lost five teams during the course of the last 13 years the Club has now grown to its current level of 15 teams.
Other developments over the years have included the creation of our 'Soccer School' which was started in 1995 by Dave Driver to encourage children as young as 6 to learn footballing skills even before organised matches took place. Now run by Mark Aston, our Soccer School is the life blood of 3D Dynamos, providing players for the new under 7s team we create each year.
For the 1999/00 season we entered our first open age team into the Oldham Sunday League and we are ‘proud of the fact that nucleus of this team was the founding under 12’s team back in 1992 with the team having progressed through the age groups to its current format. We are hopeful that this will continue in years to come. We have now created a second open age team with both teams playing the Huddersfield League. We also have a 'veterans' team of over 35’s who train every week and play the occasional friendly.
3D Dynamos are delighted to be entering their 25th year. From humble beginnings the club has grow steadily over the years and now successfully runs teams ranging from our Soccer School (Age 4-6) through to our open age and Vets teams (Over 35’s).
We warmly welcome new players of all ages from Saddleworth and beyond and each of the teams is run by FA qualified coaches. Our mission is ‘to provide the local community with a facility for the promotion of football for all age groups with particular emphasis on developing skills and enjoyment in youth football. We will strive to balance the achievement of success with the participation of all’ and we are proud to practice this philosophy throughout the club. All the teams are looking forward with great anticipation to the season ahead and hope we can build on the great successes of the last 25 years.
The committee would like to thank everybody who has been involved with the club during the last 25 years for all their effort and hard work. With special thanks going to all our sponsors past and present who have helped make the club what it is today. If you're interested in joining one of our teams or would like to volunteer and help out with coaching and running the club - please email Val Broadbent our club secretary at: email@example.com or call our Chairman Carl on 0777 303 6593.
